At Hopsters, you’re the brewer – but that doesn’t mean you’re on your own!

We have knowledgeable staff on hand to provide as little or as much help as you want. Hopsters is for everyone – from the novice with a curiosity about craft beer to the master brewer who wants to improve her technique or just experiment. We have posters and visual aids to help you understand the process.

Whether you like a hearty stout, a hoppy IPA, or a light-bodied lager, we have a full range of craft brew recipes to suit your beer palate. Each kettle yields about three cases of beer, so you can keep it for yourself or share with friends. Smaller batches also mean that you can experiment with different recipes in a larger group.

We have created a warm and welcoming atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy a bite to eat, and take the time to learn about beer-making and the way to affect subtle differences in the taste. And it’s not just for grown-ups: you can bring along the kids to watch you make the beer, however anyone under the age of 21 will not be permitted to consume alcohol.

How much beer do I make?
The average yield is approximately 7.5 gallons of beer. To put this in perspective, this is about two and a half to three cases of beer, and equates to 60-72 twelve ounce bottles or 27 x 32oz cans. Of course you can package a mixture of both bottles and cans.
How long does it take?
The brewing process takes about 2 hours, and you will return approximately 2-3 weeks later for bottling. Additionally, we offer a bottling and labeling service for corporate or large groups.
Can I eat and drink while I brew?
Absolutely! We encourage all of our guests to enjoy our hand-crafted charcuterie boards, flatbreads, or small plates during their brew. Thirsty? We have twenty tap lines featuring beer from the Hopsters’ Brewery, a selection of 5 or so additional local, New England beers, ciders and an assortment of wine and spirits. Not ready to brew? We are also open to the public for dinner and drinks (so no brewing required!).
How many people can I bring to brew?
The brewing area can become very crowded, and we therefore ask that you limit your group to four people per kettle of beer that is being brewed. Larger groups may be approved on a case-by-case basis, just drop us a line at 617-916-0752.
How much do bottles/cans cost and how do I book a bottling session?
Bottles, 32oz cans or a mixture of cans or bottles and labels are included in the price of your brew session. So we can prepare your beer for bottling, please book your bottling session at least four days in advance of when you would like to come in. Schedule your bottling session here on the Hopsters’ website for 2-3 weeks after your brew date.
Can I reuse bottles for future batches?
Yes! Make sure that you remove the labels and rinse your bottles thoroughly. When properly taken care of and sanitized, bottles are a one-time cost and we’ll give you a five dollar discount for each full case you reuse or return.
Can I bring my own bottles?
Yes you can! We will run them through the sanitation cycle of our bottle washing machine prior to your appointment. As mentioned previously, we now offer canning in 32oz/quart Cans. So you can now enjoy your beer when camping, hiking or at the golf course or beach!
Can I customize my label?
Absolutely! We’ll send instructions on how to upload your label after your brewing appointment. You may upload one label design for each kettle brewed.
